The International Symposium for Soft Matter Science and Engineering (SMSE) has been a highly successful platform for academic exchange and collaboration in the field of soft matter. Initiated in 2017, this symposium has facilitated fruitful discussions among scholars from various disciplines. In continuation of this tradition, the 6th SMSE is scheduled to be held on May 16-19, 2025 at the International Campus of South China University of Technology. SMSE 2025 will focus on the topic of “Liquid Crystal Materials, Physics, and Applications”, highlighting liquid crystal, one of the most representative types of soft matter. The symposium aims to explore future directions in liquid crystal materials, physical properties, as well as their transformative applications, and their impact on various scientific and technological fields. Special attention will be given to novel liquid crystal phases/topological states, including material fabrication, microstructural characterization, physical behavior, and responses to external fields.
The symposium will feature keynote presentations by globally renowned experts in liquid crystal science, who will share their insights on the latest advancements and emerging trends in the field. Additionally, a series of interactive sessions, including panel discussions and poster presentations, will provide a platform for both young and experienced researchers to exchange ideas and foster collaborations.
We sincerely invite researchers, scientists, and students worldwide to join the 6th SMSE, share groundbreaking progress in liquid crystals, collectively advance the understanding of liquid crystals and soft matter science, and navigate the ever-evolving soft matter research. Join us at SMSE 2025 to shape the soft matter science and future technology.
